Russian cardiac surgeons participated in the annual Caspian Meetings conference in April 2025. It is well known that meetings at the hospitable Astrakhan Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery (FCCCH) always delight participants with their current agenda, excellent organization and friendly atmosphere. Hundreds of doctors from all over the country became guests of the event, where they were able to see their long-time friends and colleagues, listen to interesting reports, engage in heated discussions and discuss the latest news.
The Caspian Meetings began their work with a report by a team of authors from the Voronezh Cardiac Surgery Center on the topic: "Optimization of myocardial protection methods using thermal blood cardioplegia in cardiac surgery." In their scientific work, the authors compared the results of the application of thermal cardioplegia Normacor and a foreign crystalloid cold solution in the most severe group of patients according to Sintax and Euroscore. As a result, the advantages of the Normacore-based methodology were found. In the Normacor group, the heart was much more likely to restore rhythm on its own, the need for cardiotonics was significantly reduced, ventilation time was spent less, the volume of discharge through drains in 24 hours was lower, and cognitive dysfunction was less common in patients.

Recently, over 550 operations with Normacor have been performed in the Astrakhan Federal Agricultural Center.
