Cardiosystempharma presented the latest scientific data on the study of the antihypoxic properties of the innovative drug Normacor® for blood cardioplegia at the XII Congress of the Russian Society of Extracorporeal Technologies (RosECT), which was held jointly with the VII International School of Extracorporeal Life Support (ESMO) on October 2-3, 2020 in Kazan.
During the main session of the congress, V.A. Aliyev, an anesthesiologist and intensive care physician at the I.M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical University, spoke about the effective protection of the myocardium using Normacor® during cardiac surgery in conditions of intentional anemia. Experimental data presented to the attention of the professional community of anesthesiologists and perfusiologists confirm the wide possibilities of using Normacor® cardioplegia to protect the heart in cardiac surgery. The drug Normacor® is effective in heart surgery both with a short aortic compression period of up to 1 hour, and in the case of prolonged combined operations lasting 2 hours or more for coronary heart disease, congenital and acquired heart defects, and aortic pathologies.
In a preclinical study, Normacor® cardioplegic solution has been proven to prolong the viability of cardiomyocytes for up to 2 hours or more during cardiac arrest operations. The experimental results complement the information on the efficacy and safety of Normacor® cardioplegic solution in clinical practice, which was published earlier in the article "Crystalloid hypothermic and blood normothermic cardioplegia" by N.L. Bayandin, MD.
V.E. Volgushev, MD, co-author and medical director of the project, presented a new scheme-instructions for the medical use of Normacor®.
