On June 20, 2016, the Cardiosystempharma company based at ChemRar High Technology Center received a registration certificate from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (RU No. LP-003689) for the innovative cardioplegic drug Normacor®, designed for open-heart surgery at normal body temperature.
Normacor® significantly increases the safe operation time for cardiac arrest under the conditions of normothermy and blood cardioplegic solution. According to the criteria of efficiency, safety and ease of use, it is by far the best system for protecting the myocardium during cardiac surgery. The composition of the drug is protected by patents of the Russian Federation and other countries.
Cardioplegia is a temporary cardiac arrest caused by perfusion of a pharmacological drug, electric shock, or selective hypothermia. It is used in open—heart surgery under conditions of artificial circulation. Cardioplegia is divided into hypothermic (with a decrease in temperature) and normothermic (at normal temperature).
Normacor makes it possible to realize all the potential possibilities of modern cardiac surgery techniques — under the conditions of normothermy and blood cardioplegic solution. This will reduce the surgical and postoperative mortality of patients, simplify the technique of operations, significantly reduce the risk of postoperative complications of the myocardium and brain, and reduce the cost of consumables for cardiac surgery. Existing cardioplegic solutions are used in hypothermic cardiac surgery, therefore they can only partially compete with Normacor. The drug has successfully passed registration clinical trials of efficacy and safety.
